Job Description:
This District Counselor position is currently a 10-month Counselor on Assignment job (Non-Classroom Instructional) with a minimum of 80 additional required summer hours. New hire summer hours will begin summer 2020 unless otherwise negotiated based upon applicant eligibility and availability.
This unique role responsibilities:
- Primary objective of the role is to provide K-8 school counselor leadership to support: the development and implementation of comprehensive school counseling program at district and school levels through collaboration, individual and group support facilitation for school counselors; provide scheduled professional development initiatives and opportunities; advocate for equity, students’ needs, policies and best practices based on data, and programs and services leading to student success and achievement (50%).
- Implementation of a Federal Grant focused on School Counselor Retention and Recruitment of qualified, diverse school counselors for SJCSD (20%)
- Home Education liaison and oversight and management of the district Home Education program of choice option (30%).
