Free Resource for Talking with Children About Suicide

The “How to Talk to a Child about a Suicide Attempt in Your Family” booklet/DVD aims to support all families (civilian as well as military/Veteran) facing a suicidal crisis. Since its release, this booklet has been shared and recommended by multiple organizations and agencies, including the American School Counselor Association, Suicide Prevention Resource Center, and the Department of Education. We have been very happy to be able to share this resource with teachers, counselors and schools across the U.S., available both virtually (https://www.mirecc.va.gov/visn19/talk2kids/) and free print copies (https://www.mirecc.va.gov/visn19/orderform/orderform.asp). The site also features other resources for clinicians, including therapeutic risk management of suicidal clients, other risk assessment and management tools, bi-monthly podcasts, and more.
